For the turnover ball hitch, that moment came in 1991 when B&W patented a new solution to the Gooseneck problem - figuring out how to get the ball out of the bed when not towing without significant issues.
By placing the mounting system beneath the bed and bolting it to the frame with a spring loaded handled that attaches to and goes through the ball, the ball can be stowed upside down and away from the bed, out of the way. Compared to the welded-in-ball and fold-down plate status quo of the time it was a huge step forward.
Today, you can find a Turnover Ball to match just about any full-sized truck model on the market. Because there is no drilling required through the frame, installation of these products is easier and doesn't void warrantees from manufacturers as previous modifications might have. The B&W Turnover Ball Hitch is designed with the customer in mind - from the sideplates, socket top, and censor section to the cross members. The safety chain brackets are even specially designed for each truck.
